Chilly rain on the way as winter says ‘Not so fast!’

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Not much has changed with this forecast from the latest discussion. Rain returns in our forecast for Saturday with a quick beginning as wet snowflakes or sleet pellets between 10a and 1p.

Heading north into higher elevations could hang onto the icy precipitation a little longer. While no accumulation is expected, roads could be briefly slippery before turning slick as we changeover to rain for all around 2p. Expect a soaking rain through Saturday evening. Rain totals of around a half inch are expected, with isolated higher amounts. A rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out!

Expect winds to shift in from the east Saturday and becoming more gusty along the Cape and coastal areas.

Sunday is starting to shape up as the temperatures move back into the 50’s to even near 60. Quiet weather continues through Tuesday morning, but another chilly rain system will move in late in the day through Wednesday.
