Drying out and heating up
After a day with localized flash flooding across the area, we will get a nice respite from the rain through late Thursday.
Rain totals were generally 1-2″, on the higher side of that in Rhode Island. That much over the course of a day isn’t bad, but when it falls in just a few hours it leads to problems.
Cars were stranded and roads became impassible during the late morning and early afternoon hours.
Believe it or not, it could have been much worse – parts of NY and VT had flash flood emergencies, with 4-7″ of rain in just a few hours!
Skies will begin to clear tonight and the next two days will be sunny and very warm – hot, even!
Highs Tuesday will range from 82-87, and 84-91 on Wednesday.
Showers return Thursday night into Friday. While a flooding event like we saw across the Northeast today is not expected, some of the rain could be heavy. We will monitor closely.
The weekend isn’t looking bad, but there will be a chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm each day – what else is new!
Have a great night!
