EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Easton first responders battled a “heavy” house fire in sub-zero temperatures Saturday morning.

On Saturday around 4:30 a.m., Easton fire crews received a report from a homeowner on Depot Street about a fire in their attic.

Chief Justin Alexander said that upon arrival, first responders initiated an interior attack.

“The temperatures were well below zero with wind chill at least at minus-35. Water freezes quickly, and the crews did an amazing job keeping water flowing to the fire,” Alexander said. “Without their training and hard work, this fire could have had a far worse outcome.”

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
