East Greenwich Special Olympics athlete wins gold in Germany

BERLIN, GERMANY (WLNE) — A Special Olympics athlete from East Greenwich won a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany.

Special Olympics Rhode Island said that Bri Johnson and unified partner Dave Young won gold in the Unified Sports – Doubles Bocce competition.

According to the organization Johnson has competed in the Special Olympics for 14 years, participating in athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling, cycling, flag football, and volleyball.

Johnson also won a silver medal earlier in the week, also for bocce.
