East Providence man charged with cat killing
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said Wednesday that an East Providence man has been charged with killing a 3-year-old pet cat.
Karim Carson was charged with one count of malicious injury to or killing of animals, one count of unnecessary cruelty to animals with death resulting, and one count of obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.
Carson, who’s 32-years-old, was accused of killing the cat of his child’s mother on Dec. 6, 2022.
The mother alleged that she and Carson were arguing over text when he sent her a photo of the cat underneath their child’s bed with a message saying that they weren’t breathing.
East Providence Animal Control conducted a necropsy of the cat and found injuries consistent with being kicked, stomped, and thrown.
Carson was arrested on Feb. 22. He’s scheduled to appear in court in October.
