Easton man arrested after trying to rob gas station in Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Mansfield Police Department said that a man was arrested after assaulting a clerk and attempting to rob the Mansfield Service Mobil station.

Reon Collins of Easton was charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery, disorderly conduct, strangulation or suffocation, and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

The 43-year-old is accused assaulting the clerk at the station and demanding money around 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

He then fled towards Central Street.

The department said officers arrived on scene within minutes and pursued Collins before taking him into custody.

Collins is set to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Tuesday.
