Elderly Driver Killed in Crash on 95 South
Rhode Island State Police have confirmed to ABC6 News that an crash on Route 95 South Friday evening has killed one, the male driver of the car involved.
The accident happened just after 6PM Friday, south of Exit 5, near the Austin Farm Rd overpass. Witnesses said the vehicle swerved across the highway, and flipped over near the high speed lane. Another car stopped short of the flipped vehicle, but the driver of the second car was not injured.
The driver of the flipped car was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, an elderly female, was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation – including whether or not a medical condition may have caused the crash. The identities of the victims have not been released.
