Elderly man seriously injured after being hit by car in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — An elderly man was hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday night after he was hit by a car on Lonsdale Avenue, Pawtucket police said.

According to Detective Sgt. Theodore Georgitsis, police responded to the area of 440 Lonsdale Ave. at around 8 p.m. for a report of a car crash involving a pedestrian.

Georgitsis said they found an elderly man who was seriously injured at the scene, suffering from serious injuries.

ABC 6 News crews were on the scene where a small sedan could be seen with a large crack in its windshield. Blood was also observed on the ground.

The investigation remains ongoing but police said no criminal charges have been filed at this time.

No further information was immediately released.
