PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Former Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox has reported to prison to serve three years for corruption.

Federal Bureau of Prisons Spokesman Ed Ross says Fox arrived Tuesday afternoon at the federal prison camp at the U.S. Penitentiary Canaan in Waymart, Pennsylvania.

It's a roughly four-and-a-half to five-hour drive from the East Providence home Fox shares with his husband.

Fox represented Providence for 11 terms in the House. He pleaded guilty in March to charges of bribery, wire fraud and filing a false tax return.

Fox acknowledges taking a $52,500 bribe from a restaurant when he was a member of the city board of licenses. He admits to taking more than $100,000 from his campaign account for his own use.

Fox will serve in the minimum security satellite camp adjacent to the penitentiary.
