Ex-husband arrested after threatening to set ex-wife’s house on fire

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) – Portsmouth Police arrested a 75 year-old man Sunday night after he broke into his ex-wife’s house through a glass window.

Chong Yoon, was found by his ex-wife pouring gasoline on the floor proceeding to threaten to set her house on fire, according to police.

When officers arrived on scene Yoon was holding a samurai sword.

Officers gave instructions to drop the sword but then Yoon attempted to run away from police and had to be restrained.

Yoon was charged with domestic arson in the 5th degree, domestic breaking and entering, resisting arrest, and violation of a protective order.

Yoon was taken to Newport Hospital by police due to injuries he had prior to his arrest.

He was arraigned Monday in District Court.
