Faial Restaurant in Smithfield is now closed for good. A sign was posted on the restaurant’s door sometime Tuesday afternoon and the Attorney General’s Office tells ABC6 News that this time it’s official.

Faial abruptly closed without notice in June leaving employees scrambling, but they reopened a few days later, telling customers they’d honor gift certificates.

Since then, many disgruntled customers have filed complaints with the Attorney General’s Office.

There is also a Faial in Greenville. The numbers to both locations are disconnected, and the AG’s Office says they’re not sure about the status of the restaurant but the case is currently under investigation.

Customers are urged to file complaints if they have gift certificates to the restaurant, and anyone who had already filed a complaint after the first closing last month should re-file. A complaint can be filed on the AG’s Office website, here
