Fairhaven man hit by car, killed in New Bedford bar parking lot

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said a Fairhaven man is dead after he was struck by a car in the parking lot of a New Bedford sports bar Monday night.

Police said they received multiple 911 calls around 7 p.m. about a man that was hit by a car in the parking lot of Knuckleheads Sports Bar and Grill on MacArthur Drive in New Bedford.

When first responders arrived to the scene, they said they identified the victim as 36-year-old John Blomgren. He was taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, identified as a 56-year-old Dartmouth man, remained on the scene and rendered aid to Blomgren until paramedics arrived, officials said.

The investigation remains ongoing and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
