Fall River man stabbed to death outside of local café, marks city’s first homicide of year

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River man was stabbed to death outside of a café Sunday night, marking the first homicide in the city this year.

Fall River police said that Antonio Santos was stabbed just after 9 p.m. in front of the Latino’s Café on County Street.

Santos, who’s 58 years old, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died during surgery shortly before midnight.

Police believe that the stabbing suspect took off from the café, heading east on County Street.

Investigators believe the suspect and victim knew each other. No one is in custody at this time.

The Bristol District Attorney’s Office told ABC 6 News that at this time in 2021, there were three homicides in the city, adding that this is the latest in the year that the first homicide has occurred in the city in over a decade.
