FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – A Fall River dispensary got the go-ahead to sell recreational marijuana Thursday after the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Council approved their final retail license.

The Commission approved the license for four dispensaries around the state, including Northeast Alternatives in Fall River Thursday afternoon.

Officials told ABC6 that a final license does not immediately allow dispensaries to begin selling recreational cannabis.

Several further steps must be taken before approved dispensaries can begin recreational sales, including inspections, inventory and sale tracking, and proper registration of employees.

Once these steps are completed and a final okay is given, the dispensaries can begin sales.

Three other Massachusetts marijuana dispensaries were approved for final license Thursday, including locations in Great Barrington, Pittsfield, and Hudson.
