Fall River police investigate shooting death of 23-year-old man

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police and Fall River police said they’re investigating a homicide that happened Saturday night.

According to officials, at 10:44 p.m. Fall River police received multiple calls for shots fired on County Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they said they found a man, identified as 23-year-old Diamonte Odom of Fall River, laying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.

Odom was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

No suspect is in custody at this time and police said the investigation is “extremely active as of this moment.”

No further information was immediately released.
