Fall River police seize $100,000, arrest 2 in drug raid

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE)– Fall River police said they’ve arrested two individuals and seized $100,000 in cash along with over 100 grams of suspected fentanyl while serving a warrant at 143 Jencks St. Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they forced entry into a third floor apartment where they found Elton Vultao, 41, of Fall River, attempting to toss several pink baggies down a staircase.

Police also found fellow Fall River resident, 42-year-old Edward Botelho, hiding behind a bathroom door. According to a statement, there were 25 bags full of a white powdery substance at his feet.

A search of the apartment led police to yet more of the white powder, supplies for bagging, a suspected cutting agent, and a wall safe containing $56,000.

In total, police said they confiscated over $100,000 in cash, 118 doses, and nearly seven grams of the suspected fentanyl in powder form.

Both men were charged with possession of a Class A substance and Vultao was additionally charged with intent to distribute.

A woman initially held at the scene was not charged.
