Fall River police seize gun from 16-year-old boy after chase
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said Tuesday they seized a loaded handgun from a teenage boy last week.
According to officials, officers were patrolling in the Flint section of the city and were drawn to a group of people outside a convenience store.
While officers were watching, the group moved into a nearby alleyway. Two of them ran off when the officers approached.
Authorities said the foot chase lasted several blocks and ended with a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy being taken into custody in the area of Alden Street.
According to police, the 16-year-old had a loaded Hi-Point 9mm handgun. He was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
The 17-year-old was also charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
