Fall River woman claims she was followed by a man at Walmart in Swansea

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) – A Fall River woman said she had quite the scare while shopping at the Walmart in Swansea this week.

Lisa Moura said a man followed her through the store while she was shopping, and even into the parking lot as she tried to leave.

The 28-year-old mother of four said she was picking up some items at the Swansea location around 6 p.m. Wednesday when she noticed the man and got an uneasy feeling. She first noticed him while picking up clothes in the boys’ section for her son.

“I was the only one in the boys’ section and this man walks by me. He just gave me a look. He was walking by just staring at me and he walked slowly. It was just creepy.”

She shrugged it off and went to the grocery section. But she said she saw the man again.

“I’d seen him walk down the aisle. He had no buggy, no cart with him or nothing he was buying in his hands,” Moura said.

Hoping to lose him, she said she headed to the other end of the store.

“And there he is again. Right next to me.”

Moura said she went to the registers to pay, and he followed her there, walking in and out of the closed registers. He then headed towards the doors, and Moura said she asked a worker to escort her out to her car.

Once she was escorted out, Moura said she noticed the man was in the parking lot, pulling on door handles to find an unlocked vehicle. Once people noticed him, she said, he headed towards the back of the building and she safely went home.

She posted the experience to Facebook, and it was shared by more than 2,000 people. She said she hopes it reminds people to always be aware of your surroundings.

“When I was 18 when I lived in Florida, I was actually robbed at gunpoint, so I’m now very observant with my surroundings. Just be careful. Be observant.”

ABC6 reached out to Walmart but a spokesman declined to comment.
