Chandra Akerblom flips through the pages of her scrap book. It’s filled with pictures of her brother Vincent Wadlington. He was murdered five years ago at age 25. Why he was killed and who did it, still remains a mystery.
"We just want to know, what happened, find the person and get justice for what happened to him," says Akerblom.
Wadlingtons body was found off of Danforth Street in Fall River on this set of old train tracks. As far as details surrounding his death, Akerblom says there aren’t many. Police have told her that the murder appears to have been a “crime of passion”. While Wadlington had struggled with substance abuse and the law in the past, Akerblom says her brother was a funny, kindhearted person who always stuck by his family. She adds, he was in the process of changing for the better.
"He was turning his life around, he started working. He wanted to go back to be with his daughter."
With new Fall River Police detectives on the case, Chandra’s hopeful she will finally get the answers she has been looking for.
"I check in every once in a while. I don’t want to overwhelm him every week, like did you find something? There is only so much you can find during the files. But, he is running with it, and he is not letting it go. He is not letting it go," she says.
We reached out to the Bristol County District Attorneys office. They could not comment on camera because this is an on going investigation. However, the spokesperson did tell us, since they began their cold case unit in 2007, they’ve solved 11 cases. Adding, each unsolved case like this one is high on their priority list.
"I don’t wish any ill will on the person. I just want justice for my brother. I don’t want to take someone else’s family member away from them because I know how that feels."
