Walk to support Portsmouth family who lost home to fire
By Alana Cerrone
Friends and neighbors of the family who lost their home in an awful fire in Portsmouth last weekend are coming together to show their support.
They've organized a “Lap of Love” family walk Saturday to raise money and donations to help out the family whose Summit Road home was completely destroyed by the flames, which also presumably killed their 2 pets.
The walk begins at 3:00 pm from the VFW Hall on Anthony Road, and donations are being accepted in the same location from 2:30 – 5:00 pm. Organizers are suggesting a $10 donation from families participating in the walk.
The fire broke out at the home last Saturday afternoon after a disposed cigarette ignited nearby combustibles. The windy conditions made it more difficult to control the flames, which caused the entire second floor to collapse. Luckily, no people were injured.
