Family, friends hold fundraiser for woman battling stage 4 kidney disease
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — A fundraiser in Bristol on Sunday raised money for a woman battling stage 4 kidney disease.
Chelsea Andrade co-owns High Grade Seafood and is in need of a kidney donor.
The community joined together for Chelsea at Brick Pizza Co. to raise a goal of $10,000 for her.
One of her former classmates headed the event and said it was about showing Chelsea love and support.
“Some words to Chelsea; just hang in there, you’re a strong girl,” her former classmate said.
“I remember going though and hearing my dad coach us in soccer and how tough we had to be out on the field — you know — use that tenacity inside of you and lean on others. I know it’s hard but we’re here to support you and we love you,” her former classmate added.
Around 80 people were in attendance to raise money and awareness for the need of kidney transplants and kidney donors.
