Family mourns Assonet man killed in head-on crash

WRENTHAM, Mass. (WLNE) – Family members of an Assonet man killed in a head-on vehicle crash mourned his death on Friday.

Scott Santangelo, 50, died after his truck and an SUV collided on Route 1 in Wrentham around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while headed home from work.

The driver of the SUV had serious injuries, and Santangelo died at the scene, state police said.

“Scott’s is the type of personality that when he walked into the room everybody gravitated towards him. He had kind of like a belly laugh, almost like Santa Claus, if you will,” Santangelo’s brother-in-law Erik Dorsey said. “So, just a fun all around pure, pure soul. A really good guy.”

Dorsey told ABC 6 that Santangelo leaves behind a wife and three young kids.

“He loved his family I think more than anything,” Dorsey said. “He was a very hands-on dad, hands-on husband.”
