UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal East Providence crash

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – East Providence Police have identified the victim in a fatal single-car accident early Wednesday morning. 

The single-car crash was reported around 2:40 a.m. Police said the operator lost control of the vehicle while traveling southbound on the East Shore Expressway. 

Preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle’s male operator was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The victim, identified as 41-year-old Carlos A. Ojeda, of California, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Exit 7 from Route 195 was closed while Police investigated the scene of the crash. The exit was reopened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said Ojeda may have been travelling in the area with an unknown female passenger. Anyone who may have information regarding the female individual is asked to contact East Providence Police.
