Update: Police ID victim of fatal motorcycle crash in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – The Pawtucket Police Department has identified the victim of  Saturday’s fatal motorcycle crash.

Police said Alexander Pina, 27, of Pawtucket was the operator of the motorcycle. Pina was pronounced dead on the scene.

Pawtucket Police and Fire officials responded to a head on collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Cottage Street and Central Avenue around 1:20 a.m Saturday.

A 24-year-old female passenger to the motorcycle was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, but in stable condition. She remains in stable condition, according to a police statement.

Both Pina and the passenger were wearing helmets, police said.

Occupants of the second vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

The crash is actively being investigated and there are no criminal charges at this time.

Witnesses say the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed.
