Fatal New Year’s Eve pedestrian hit in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, MASS (WLNE) – Dartmouth police and other emergency personnel responded to several calls of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Thursday.

Police say the accident happened at approximately 9:55 p.m. in the area of 597 State Road.

Officers confirmed that a woman, identified as 56-year-old Wendy Tolley of New Bedford was struck by a Toyota Prius driven by a 24-year-old woman.

Emergency care was rendered to Tolley, but she ultimately died as a result of the injuries.

Though emergency care was rendered to Tolley, she died as a result of the injuries she incurred.

Part of state road was closed for several hours as part of the investigation.

No arrests were made.
