Fatal one car motor vehicle accident in Coventry

COVENTRY, R.I (WLNE) – Police say a 53-year-old Coventry man died after being involved in a one car motor vehicle accident Sunday night.

At 4:41 pm emergency crews responded to a reported crash on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry.  

Police say the car had struck a utility pole, and by-standers were performing CPR on the lone occupant. 

Rescue personnel took over performing CPR and subsequently transported the operator to Kent Hospital.

Doctors pronounced the victim deceased at. 5:21 pm.

Members of the Coventry Accident Reconstruction Team will be investigating the accident. 

The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
