RI State police identify pedestrian killed on I-95 in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on I-95 South near Walcott Street.

Authorities say around 9 p.m. on Saturday night, a man was hit while walking alongside of I-95 in the area of Walcott Street and School Street.

Rhode Island State Police identified the victim as 57-year-old Ricardo Masariegos, who they believe to have been homeless.

Masariegos was said to be walking against traffic in the right shoulder of the southbound lanes.

According to State Police, the man crossed the highway and was hit by a Mercedes in the high-speed lane heading southbound.

Masariegos was pronounced dead at the scene.
