UPDATE: Fatal single-vehicle crash in Burrillville.

On Saturday, at approximately 4:00 a.m, members of the Burrillville Police Department responded to Douglas Pike at Colonial Kennel for a reported crash.
When police arrived, they discovered a vehicle off road with severe damage.
The investigation showed the operator, now identified as 23-year-old, Payden Derossi, of Leland North Carolina, attempted to pass a second vehicle, and in doing so, lost control of his car, leaving the roadway and striking several trees.
The vehicle was split into several pieces. According to the police, the investigation showed that the excessive speed was a factor.
Assisting in the investigation were the Rhode Island State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, The Pascoag Fire Department, The Oakland-Maplevile Fire Department, and the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office
BURRILLVILLE, R.I (WLNE) – Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that happened early Saturday morning.
Burrillville police were dispatched to 165 Douglas Pike for a reported crash around 4 a.m.
When officers arrived they found a single vehicle had lost control and left the roadway.
According to the police, as the car was leaving the roadway, it struck several trees before coming to a stop at the Colonial Kennel parking lot.
The driver has been identified as a 23-year-old male who suffered fatal injuries. His name has not been released at this time.
