Federal Hill Commerce Association eases concerns of restaurant owners for potential threats to the city

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Some restaurant owners have shown concern over potential violence in the city after last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Rick Simone, head of the Federal Hill Commerce Association said he has been in touch with police.

While there are no known or credible threats to Providence, Simone said he hopes to ease the concerns of both residents and restaurant owners.

“We’ve had people reaching out to us on a regular basis asking us if there’s a reason for concern and that’s hence the reason we’ve maintained our communication schedule with the police department,” Simone told ABC 6.

Providence police said there is no need to cancel any activities or events planned in the city, leading up to Inauguration Day.
