Federal Hill’s Al Fresco dining extended through November

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Federal Hill’s Al Fresco dining will continue through the month of November.

Rick Simone, executive director of the Federal Hill Commerce Association, confirmed the news to ABC6 on Thursday.

Simone said the Federal Hill Commerce Association got together with restaurant owners, small business owners and residents on the hill, who together decided to extend Al Fresco dining another month.

The original goal was to make it through Colombus Day weekend, but Simone said they’ve received an outpouring of support from patrons who want to see it continue.

Al Fresco will continue weather permitting, with a decision made each Wednesday on whether or not to hold it that weekend.

“We are going to do whatever we can to continue to make our guests comfortable,” Simone said. “Guests have indicated that they do want us to continue, overwhelmingly to be very honest with you. We are going to be adding some new bubbles and we’re going to be adding some tents.”

More than 200 heaters have been dispersed to restaurants on Federal Hill to help extend outdoor dining through the chillier weekends.

Al Fresco will not be held on Friday, October 30 due to the weather. It will go on as normal on Saturday, October 31.
