Fellela pleads guilty to fraud

Henry Fellela Jr, the husband of Rhode Island state lawmaker Deborah Fellela, pleaded guilty to federal charges of credit card and social security fraud.

Fellela pleaded guilty to five counts, which included identity theft and theft of government funds.

In court, he acknowledged that he knowingly received $58,000 in benefits after falsely listing in 2004 that he had no permanent address.

He also acknowledged fraudulently using a credit card to buy personal goods such as a television, clothes, and gas.

His sentencing is set for July 1st and he could face a maximum penalty of 37 years in prison.
