FEMA awards Brown University for COVID-19 testing costs

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced they are sending over $1.6 million to the Ocean State.

FEMA said this is to reimburse Brown University for purchasing and administering 141,000 COVID-19 tests in 2022.

Officials at FEMA said providing resources for higher education institutions is critical to their success and the country’s.

This grant brings the total awarded by FEMA to the State of Rhode Island to over $607 million for pandemic-related expenses.
