Friars Blown Out At West Virginia

West Virginia routs Providence 93-63

      MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – John Flowers scored a career-high 24
points to lead West Virginia to a 93-63 win over Providence
Thursday night.
For Flowers, it was the first time he'd ever surpassed 20 points
in a college game. Kevin Jones scored 19 while Casey Mitchell and
Deniz Kilicli scored 14 apiece to help the Mountaineers (11-4, 3-2
Big East) dispatch the Friars (11-7, 0-5).
Marshon Brooks led Providence in scoring with 13, despite that
number being well off his season average of 23.8 points per game.
Vincent Council also contributed 11 for the Friars.
West Virginia dominated nearly every facet of the game, shooting
48.6 percent from the field (35 of 72) while holding Providence to
just 31.2 percent (24 of 77).
Once West Virginia regained the lead with 18:24 left in the
first half, it never relinquished it. Also, from 13:28 in the first
half to 6:36, the Mountaineers went on a 21-0 run.
