Fidelity plans to add 500 jobs in Rhode Island

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Fidelity Investments plans to hire 500 people for its Smithfield, Rhode Island facility.

Company officials and state leaders announced Monday that the jobs, most of which are entry level and customer facing, will be added over the next few quarters.

Being a licensed financial professional is not a prerequisite for many of the positions.

Gov. Daniel McKee, who also attended the news conference, said the news is evidence that the state’s economy is recovering from the pandemic.

The company already has about 3,200 workers in Rhode Island.
