Finance Committees meet Thursday for ARPA Expenditure Plan
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Senate and House Finance Committees have planned to meet this Thursday, December 16 for a hearing of the Governor’s revised proposal to solve the FY 2022 state budget by allocating the first piece of RI’s $1.13 billion American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Funds.
The meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m., where the House Finance Committee will meet in Room 35 on the basement level of the State House and the Senate Finance Committee will meet in Room 313 on the third floor.
The committees will look at the Governor’s revised plan, which will be made available 24 hours before the hearings. The first proposal included $38.5 million to support services to children and families, $32 million to assist companies impacted by COVID-19, $29.5 million to promote affordable housing, housing stability supports, and broadband planning, as well as $13 million for hard-hit-tourism, hospitality, and event industries.
House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi, Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio and Gov. Dan McKee have all pledged to add another $6 million to support child care needs.
