Allens Avenue was shut down for two hours Saturday night after a fire started at the Motiva gas storage facility in Providence.

Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Desmarais tells ABC 6 the fire started at about 7:25 p.m. and crews were able to contain and control the fire quickly. Fire Departments outside of Providence were also on standby.

Fire Officials believe the fire started when an ethanol pump malfunctioned, but luckily no fuel was released during the fire.

Desmarais commended the hard work of the firefighters and their ability to keep the fire contained under difficult conditions.

There were no injuries reported.
