CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – A fire forced the evacuation of 39 patients at Cranston’s Eleanor Slater Hospital Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out around 8:00 a.m. between the second and third floors of the hospital’s Adolph Meyer Building located on the Pastore Center campus in Cranston, said Randal Edgar, a spokesman for the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals.

No injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, and do not suspect foul play at this time.

In the meantime, the evacuated patients were temporarily relocated to another building on the hospital campus, and will be moved back to the Adolph Meyer building once officials give them the go ahead.
