Fire breaks out at multi-family home in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I (WLNE) – A fire broke out in a multi-family home on School Street in Pawtucket early Saturday morning.

Pawtucket Fire Battalion Chief David Cairraro said that firefighters arrived on scene around 4:30 a.m., and all occupants in the home were able to escape on their own.

According to Red Cross, a woman and her two daughters escaped from the third floor, but her animals, three cats, a rabbit and several lizards, did not survive the fire.

Cairraro said that two firefighters were injured in battling the blaze.  One had an ankle injury and the other, a leg injury. Both firefighters were taken to hospitals, and have since been released.

The cause of this fire is undetermined and under investigation.
