Fire breaks out at Providence heating company

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence Fire responded to an oil combustion at a Providence-based heating company on Thursday.

The fire broke out at R.I. Heat Treating Company Inc. on Aldrich Street just before 4:30 p.m., according to officials.

The company treats steel by putting it into boiling oil to make it stronger. According to officials, the oil overheated and combusted.

Crews quickly contained the fire with liquid foam. The building sustained smoke damage. No employees were hurt in the fire.
