Fire breaks out in North Providence apartment complex

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A fire broke out in an apartment complex in North Providence Friday morning.

The fire happened at about 9 a.m. at the Maple Gardens Apartment on McGuire Road.

Battalion Chief Tony Cardozo told ABC 6 News that about 25 apartments were evacuated.

Cardozo said the fire was in the basement and was put out. Residents will be able to go back inside their apartments Friday afternoon.

The State Fire Marshal was at the scene to make sure the building was suitable for living.
