WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick fire officials are still trying to determine what caused a fire to break out overnight at a historic Warwick home.

Crews responded to the Centerville Road home around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Battalion Chief Robert Barmenteo, the home dates back to the 1700s.

Officials say the back of the home has damage, but it is still livable. However, construction in the area did pose some difficulties.

“We actually accessed the road was blocked, so we had to move barriers to get down the street because this road was actually shut off because of the circulator project going on,” said Battalion Chief Barmenteo of the Warwick Fire Department.

The owner was not home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
