Fire destroys home in Lakeville, sends firefighter to hospital

LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) — A home in Lakeville was destroyed by a fire Monday.

The fire happened just before 2 p.m. on Beechtree Drive.

Those inside the home were able to get out safely.

The Lakeville Fire Department said firefighters were ordered out of the home because of the heavy fire conditions.

A Lakeville firefighter was taken to Morton Hospital with a minor injury. He has since been discharged from the hospital.

Improper disposal of smoking materials is believed to be the cause of the fire.
