Fire District of South Kingstown reports on construction progress at High Street

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) – Chief Steven Pinch and the Union Fire District of South Kingstown wanted to update the community about construction ongoing at High Street for a new fire station.

The land at High Street was purchased in 2019 for under $300,000. Last week, the abandoned structure was finally demolished after hazardous waste and asbestos concerns held construction back until last week.  The site will be seeded and work graded in the spring by the UFD.

“We are excited about moving forward with the next step in the process of cleaning up and converting this piece of land in town,” Chief Pinch said. “We will continue to work on the site through the spring, and will keep residents updated as we go.”
