Fire fighters battle house fire in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Multiple fire units responded to a structure fire on the upper levels of an East Providence home.

ABC6 News Crews were on the scene where they saw seven fire trucks and dozens of firefighters extinguishing the fire and beginning demolition on the second story home.

The Fire Chief for East Providence, Glenn Quick, shared with ABC6 News that all occupants of the house were not home when they arrived to the scene. There are no injuries at this time. He also shared that the City and State Fire Marshal’s are in the early stages of the investigation for the origin and cause of the fire while Red Cross assists the three adults and three children who lived in the home.

According to the East Providence Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency Facebook page, this was an aggressive fire required multiple hose lines while also aggressively searching for occupants of the house. The fire was spreading towards the attic while also growing in the walls and ceiling. With the assistance of the Providence Fire Department and East Providence police they were able to stop the spread of the fire and ultimately put it out.
