Fire tears through Cranston home with no active smoke alarms

A fire tore through a Cranston home on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m.

The ranch-style home located at 141 Park Ave in Cranston was omitting heavy smoke and flames when fire crews arrived after being tipped off by a passerby.

Fire officials say because the home was not equip with working smoke detectors and no one was at home at the time of the incident the fire may have been underway for sometime before crews arrived.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined however is not deemed to be suspicious. Officials at the scene mentioned that crews were called to the address recently for a Carbon Monoxide issue.

The fire left part of Park Avenue between the Park View Avenue intersection and the Parkside Drive intersection closed to thru traffic while crews managed the flames.
