Fire weather concerns for the midweek, potential weekend rain
We continued the nice weather today after a stellar Mother’s Day weekend. Highs reached the low 70s under a mostly sunny sky.
Tuesday follows suit before a cold front approaches from the north Tuesday night. Most of the area might not see anything more than an a quick shower before sunshine returns Wednesday.
However, the front will usher in some cooler air. Highs Tuesday will approach 80, with only lower 60s expected for Wednesday. And Thursday morning’s lows may fall into the 30s!
Gusty winds and dry air will also contribute to an elevated Fire Weather Risk Tuesday and Wednesday, so please be careful with any open flames!
Dry weather continues into the weekend, but a few different pieces of energy may combine to bring us a much needed soaker at some point Saturday into Sunday.
I say ‘much needed’ because May has been very dry so far. The wet end to April took us out of a drought situation, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it added back to parts of the area in the new drought monitor Thursday.
Have a great night!
