Firefighter injured in six family building fire in Dorchester

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)- A Boston Firefighter was injured on Monday while battling a fire in Dorchester.

At around 4:50 p.m., firefighters from the Boston Fire Department responded to a fire on 48 Edgewood St. in Dorchester.

The roof of a six family building was on fire when firefighters arrived on the scene, according to the department’s Twitter.

The team managed to get all of the occupants out of the building before the roof eventually collapsed.

Firefighters contained the fire, preventing its spread to adjacent buildings.

A firefighter was injured after being hit by falling chimney bricks. The firefighter as was transported to a hospital along with a resident who was also injured.
