Firefighters battle 2-alarm fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at a commercial warehouse Sunday morning in Providence.

Providence Fire Department told ABC6 that firefighters responded to a call at 252 Allens Ave shortly after 6:00 a.m. Sunday for reports of a structure fire.

Firefighters on scene found a fire between the roofs of two commercial warehouse buildings on the property. The warehouses were vacant at the time of the fire.

Providence Fire said companies attempted to put out the fire from below, but were unable to and were called back for safety precautions.

After removing sections of the roof, firefighters were able to tackle the flames from above and below, getting the scene under control around 8:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

The extent of the damage to the building is not clear at this time.
