Firefighters battle large brush fire in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Crews from multiple communities’ fire departments are battling a brush fire in Attleboro Sunday morning.
The fire is located on Brookside Drive, and firefighters are using a drone to attempt to assess its spread.
Reports of smoke were received by the Attleboro Fire Department at 4:45 a.m., and when they arrived they found a large brush fire.
Firefighters from 20 communities across Bristol County, including Attleboro, Berkley, Dighton, Easton, Freetown, North Attleboro, Plainville, and Rehoboth, are using water from a nearby pond to try and contain hotspots as they appear.
It is currently unknown what the source of the fire was, and the department is currently investigating.
There were no injuries reported.
This is the second brush fire in Attleboro this week, and Deputy Chief Dennis Perkins said he expects them to be common as conditions are currently very dry.
