First Half of 2010: Warmest on Record in RI
The first six months of this year have all featured warmer than normal weather. Through June 26, at TF Green Airport, the temperature has averaged 48.6° F. This is equal to the warmest average temperature on record (1991) for the first six months of the year. We will certainly break the record. The last three days have averaged 77°, 84°, and 81°. June 30 will be a bit cooler, but still plenty warm enough to continue pushing that average temperature well over the record level.
June has been more than 3° warmer than normal at TF Green Airport. It will probably go down as one of the ten warmest on record.
July will likely start out with more very warm weather. As you may know, my summer forecast called for a warmer than normal summer, with eight 90° days. So far, we have seen plenty of warm weather and two 90° days. The forecast appears to be working out, much to the chagrin of my air conditioner which has been working overtime.
